Tom Gschwind sang and played violin with Automatic Pilot from the very beginning. in 1980, through its final performance in 1983.

He composed the music and words for Oral Astrology, the only original Automatic Pilot song not written by Matthew and Karl.

Tom spoke many languages; a skill he put to use in his career as an international tour guide in San Francisco, and in the French language section of Are You In Love?

He also sang with, and played violin for, the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus.

He died of liver cancer in 1990.
